We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Nick and Helena and bus driver, Jeff! They were knowledgeable about London’s history and Highclere Castle and shared many of these details on our excursion. We were picked up at Cleopatras Needle and were frazzled because our taxi driver was new to the area and could not find the pick up point. We got there a few minutes before the departure time and both Nick and Helena were able to calm us down and got us pumped up for our day! We had 11 people on our tour bus which was very clean and comfortable. Our driver knew the route and gave us a smooth and enjoyable ride. We stopped for a quick bathroom break before arriving at the village of Bampton. We were given ample time to tour the church and grounds and Helena and Nick showed us various film sites including the house that was used as the Post Office and the Crowley House. Then, onward to Aston Pottery, Kingsway Farm, Aston for a wonderful lunch (included in the price of our day tour) with a variety of delicious quiche, salads, vegetables, potatoes, macaroni and cheese, desserts and beverages. The grounds were absolutely beautiful as was the shop filled with souvenirs, pottery, bath salts and lotions etc. Then onto High leer Castle! Jeff played the Downton Abbey theme song as we were driving up the lane which gave us all goosebumps! We were given approximately 2 hours to tour the castle, grounds, visit the King Tut Exhibit in the basement and/or have scones and tea. We had an absolutely fantastic day which has given us a lifetime of memories! We got to know some of the members of our group, share where we came from etc. I cannot thank Nick, Helena and Jeff, and the Carnavrons for opening up their home to us! Nick and Helena were interesting, exciting and fun to be with! Their knowledge and enthusiasm made our day most memorable! Thank you all so very much! Bruce and Liz Fleming, Ontario, Canada
