The best ice cream in London: from avocado and plum to bee pollen and marshmallow

London is famous for its grey skies and rainy weather, so going out for ice cream might not be one of the first things that springs to mind for any visitor to the Old Smoke – but when we are gifted with sunshine, there’s really nothing better!

To be perfectly honest, you can’t go far wrong just picking up an ice cream straight out of the freezer at a supermarket and lounging around in one of the Royal Parks – but if you happen to be an aficionado of frozen treats, London has got you covered!

Here are a few of my top picks:

Amorino is a great ice cream chain, with branches in Islington, Covent Garden, Soho, Camden, and Stratford… the list goes on! The cones here get massive points for style, with the ice cream being served up in petal shapes bursting out of the cones. If you can’t manage a whole cone, their macarons are pretty great too!

If you’re looking for something a bit more unique, there’s always Gelupo’s. Gelupo is a tiny ice cream parlour on Archer Street in Soho, and it boats some amazing flavours. Their flavours include roasted plum, white chocolate and thyme, blood orange and avocado – there’s so many flavours you’ll want to try! This one really does not disappoint.

Lastly, if you’re looking for something really decadent, there’s always Chin Chin Labs in Camden, a liquid nitrogen ice-cream parlour! Their rich hot chocolate is perfect for those with a real sweet tooth, and they have a wide range of toppings and sauces, including bee pollen, cinnamon toast and torched marshmallow. They also have a branch in Soho, called Chin Chin Dessert Club.

These ice cream parlours are a real treat no matter what the weather! If you have any other favourites, please do get in touch and we’ll make a special visit… strictly for research purposes of course! Contact us @SeeYourCity1 to make your recommendations.
